LAST NIGHT ARAOUND 8:45PM.I WAS GETTING READY TO WATCH THE DEMOCRAT DONKEY DEBATE.WHEN MY TV WENT CRAZY. I WENT TO PHONE WIGHTMAN ABOUT THE SITUATION.BUT MY PHONE WOULD NOT WORK.I THEN TRYED TO GET ONLINE.AND I DISCOVERED THE INTERNET WAS NOT ONLINE EITHER.ABOUT 5 MINUTES AFTER MIDNIGHT.THE CABLE AND INTERNET CAME BACK ON.AND ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER THE TELEPHONE WAS WORKING AGAIN.THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME EVER THAT ALL WIGHTMAN WAS DOWN.AT TIMES ONE OR THE OTHER OF THE 3 GOES DOWN FOR A BIT.BUT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME EVER.THAT THE PHONE WAS OUT.SO EVERYTHING WAS OFF FOR AT LEAST 3 HOURS AND 15 MINUTES LAST NIGHT.I WAS LUCKY THO.ONE OF THE ONLY 3 OR SO CHANNELS I COULD GET.WAS CNN.SO I STILL WAS ABLE TO DO MY DEMOCRAT DEBATE BREAK DOWN.SO AT 9:50AM.THIS MORNING OCT 14,15-I DECIDED TO PHONE WIGHTMAN TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT.AND THE CLERK I TALKED WITH TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS A MAJOR OUTAGE.AS ALL OF WIGHTMAN SERVICES WERE OUT DUE TO A MAJOR CUT NEAR LISTOWELL.THE WIGHTMAN CLERK SAID THEY ARE LOOKING INTO THE SITUATION.AND IT WAS DONE ON PURPOSELY .IT WAS CUT.BY SOMEONE TO DESTROY ALL WIGHTMAN CABLE-PHONE AND INTERNET.THE POLICE ARE LOOKING INTO IT.

The loss of almost all telecommunication service in Listowel and surrounding areas last night has become an OPP investigation.Police report that someone crossed a grassy ditch near the intersection of Highway 23 and Line 87, just east of the Listowel Christian School property, and cut a fibre optic cable.That resulted in the loss of telephone, internet and T-V service in and around Listowel for several hours until repairs could be made.Perth County OPP are asking anyone who have seen a parked vehicle or a suspicious person near the intersection of Highway 23 and Line 87, north of Listowel around 7:30 last night to give them a call.
