UPDATE-JANUARY 30,2017-06:52AM
BY THE SOUNDS OF IT. 2 MUSLIM STUDENTS FROM LAVAL UNIVERSITY. ONE A MOROCCAN MUSLIM. SHOT UP A MUSLIM MOSQUE IN QUEBEC CITY CANADA. KILLING 6 AND INJURING 8. 6 OF THE 8 INJURED ARE IN SERIOUS CONDITION. ONE OF THE 2 MUSLIM SHOOTERS ARE IN CUSTODY. I DO NOT KNOW IF ITS THE MOROCCAN MUSLIM OR THE 2ND MUSLIM SHOOTER. I WONDER WAS THIS 2 MUSLIMS THAT WANTS TO START AN ALL OUT CLASH OF CIVILIZATIONS.BY SHOOTING UP A MOSQUE.THE MEDIA AND ISLAM WOULD BLAME CHRISTIANS FOR THE SHOOTING. AND WITH TRUMPS BAN ON MUSLIMS IN AMERICA TEMPORARILY. THE MUSLIMS AROUND AMERICA ARE PROTESTING LIKE CRAZY. THIS COULD INCITE BIG TIME VIOLENCE FROM ISLAM NOW. LIKE THIS SHOOTING IN THE QUEBEC MOSQUE LAST NIGHT AT AROUND 7:40PM.I JUST HEARD ABOUT IT 45 MINUTES AGO.AT 6AM WHEN I WOKE UP. BY THE SOUNDS OF IT. THE MUSLIM MEN WERE PRAYING AT THE TIME.THERE WERE 50 MEN PRAYING.AND THE 2 ISLAMIC STUDENT TERRORISTS.CAME IN THE MOSQUE SHOOTING.BACK IN JUNE WHILE ANOTHER TERRORIST ATTACK WAS ON SOMEWHERE. THIS SAME MOSQUE HAD A PIGS HEADS THROWN BY IT. WE PRAY FOR ALL THE MUSLIM FAMILIES THAT LOST THEIR FATHERS OR SONS.AND PRAY THAT THE MUSLIMS THAT WORSHIP THERE WILLNOT BLAME CHRISTIANS FOR THE SLAUGHTER SHOOTING. WHEN IT WAS A MOROCCAN MUSLIM.AND MOST LIKELY A 2ND SHOOTER FROM THE ISLAMIC FAITH.THAT KILLED THESE INNOCENT MUSLIMS WHILE PRAYING IN A MOSQUE. THE MEDIA ALREADY ARE BLAMING SOCIAL MEDIA.FOR HATE SPEECH AGAINST MUSLIMS THAT THEY SAY COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS MUSLIM TERRORIST ATTACK. BUT I SAY-THERES AT LEAST 1 OF THE 2 SHOOTERS ARE MUSLIMS.SO WHY BLAME PEOPLE ON SOCIAL MEDIA WHO TALK OUT AGAINST ISLAMIC RADICAL KILLERS. IS MY QUESTION.WHEN IT SOUNDS LIKE IT WAS 2 RADICAL MUSLIM STUDENTS FROM LAVAL UNIVERSITY THAT DONE THIS TERRORIST ATTACK.THE 2 SHOOTER WORE BLACK MASKS OVER THEIR FACES.WHILE SHOOTING UP THE MOSQUE.BOTH SHOOTERS ARE IN CUSTODY I NOW HEAR.THE SHOOTERS RELOADED.WHENT OUTSIDE 2 OR 3 TIMES. RELOADED AND WENT BACK IN SHOOTING.THIS COULD POSSIBLY BE A SHIITE-SUNNI CLASH OF ISLAM TERRORIST ATTACK.3 DIFFERENT HOSPITALS HAD 14 TOTAL INJURED FROM THE SHOOTING.BUT 6 OF THE 8 STILL IN HOSPITAL.ARE IN SERIOUS CONDITION.POLICE ARE CURRENTLY AT ONE OF THE SHOOTERS HOMES IN CAT LAROUGE.INVESTIGATING THE PLACE.THERE NOW SAYING THERE WAS WOMEN AND MEN IN THE MOSQUE AT THE TIME.SO WOMEN MIGHT HAVE BEEN KILLED THERE ALSO.QUEBEC IS SUCH AN ALT LEFT LIBERAL COUNTRY. I AM SURPRISE THE TERRORISTS DECIDED TO SHOOT UP A MOSQUE THERE.WE NOW HEAR THE 2ND SHOOTER AFTER ESCAPING.GOT REMORSE-AND CALLED POLICE.AND GAVE HIMSELF UP. AND POLICE CAME AND ARRESTED HIM.

Quebec's Premier has delivered a heartfelt message to the province's Muslims in a speech following the mosque shooting last night."I want to say a few words to our fellow Quebecers, Muslim Quebecers - we are with you, this is your home, you are welcome here, we are all Quebecers," said Premier Philippe Couillard this morning."The first duty of our society is to establish security, safety of the people, which we are doing with the police forces at all levels ... We also have to keep repeating that we must maintain solidarity and unity between our communities."He urged citizens to 'be there to indicate solidarity' at rallies on Monday to pay tribute to those affected by the attack.Six people were killed and eight injured in the shooting at a Quebec City mosque in what both Couillard and Canada's prime minister have called an "act of terrorism".

Quebec police say six dead and eight injured in mosque attack-[The Canadian Press]-YAHOONEWS-January 30, 2017

QUEBEC — In what Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Premier Philippe Couillard both called a "terrorist attack," six people were killed and eight others injured in a shooting at a Quebec City mosque on Sunday.Provincial police spokeswoman Christine Coulombe said 39 other people survived and that two suspects were in custody.Coulombe said a joint terrorism task force that includes provincial police, the RCMP and Montreal police was deployed. The victims are believed to be between 35 and about 70, she said. One of the suspects was arrested not far from the mosque, while the other was arrested near Ile-d'Orleans, just east of Quebec City's downtown core."For the moment, nothing leads us to believe there are other suspects linked to the event, but you'll understand we're not taking any chances and we're making the necessary verifications to make sure there aren't any," Coulombe said.Police would not talk about the type of weapon used in the slayings at the mosque, which had a pig's head left outside the building last June.Trudeau issued a statement Sunday to denounce the killings."We condemn this terrorist attack on Muslims in a centre of worship and refuge," he said."On behalf of all Canadians, Sophie and I offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of all those who have died, and we wish a speedy recovery to those who have been injured."Couillard also called the incident a terrorist attack and said the national assembly will lower flags to half-mast."All our solidarity is with those who are close to the victims, the injured and their families," he said in a statement.Couillard called a news conference early Monday morning and said there is no doubt in his mind the killings constituted an act of terrorism."This is a murderous act perpetrated against a specific community and with considerable means," he said. "You can't play around with semantics here."The premier made an impassioned plea to Quebec Muslims."We are with you, you are at home, you are welcome at home, we are all Quebecers," he said. "We must continue to build a society together that is open, welcoming and peaceful. We will do it because we have the energy to do it and the will to do it."A live video feed on a Facebook page of the mosque showed images of multiple police vehicles and yellow police tape.Quebec City Mayor Regis Labeaume attended the same news conference and said his thoughts went out to the victims and their families."We have the impression we are dreaming," said Labeaume. "Quebec City, this magnificent city, is in mourning. I have often said in recent weeks that, despite the peace we have here, we are not immune (to attacks). Well, this has just proven that."The mosque issued a Facebook statement early Monday after confirmation of the six dead."All our thoughts are with the children who have to be told their father has died," said the Centre Culturel Islamique de Quebec-"May Allah give them patience and strength."Neighbourhood resident Carol-Ann Andrews said such an attack was "pretty surprising" for Quebec City."My thoughts went immediately to what was happening in the United States with all the laws and all the immigrants that are not allowed to come back," she said."Unfortunately there are people in the world whose minds are not totally OK so it could have given them an idea to get rid of other people. It's pathetic."Asked whether she feels safe, she replied, "We're not safe anywhere any more."Police blocked the area off, while a coffee shop stayed open beyond normal hours and served free coffee. The mosque is across the street from a big stone church-Vigils are planned in Montreal and Quebec City on Monday. The Canadian Press.

U.S. travel ban heralds 'turbulent times' for Africa - AU chief-[Reuters]-By Ed Cropley and Aaron Maasho-YAHOONEWS-January 30, 2017

ADDIS ABABA (Reuters) - The head of the African Union said on Monday that a U.S. travel ban on seven Muslim-majority countries including three in Africa heralded "turbulent times" for the continent.Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma spoke after U.S. President Donald Trump's executive order halted travel by people with passports from Libya, Somalia, Sudan and four other Middle East nations for 90 days, and stopped refugee resettlement for 120 days."We are entering very turbulent times," Dlamini-Zuma told African leaders at the start of a summit in the 54-nation bloc's headquarters in the Ethiopian capital."The very country to which many of our people were taken as slaves during the transatlantic slave trade has now decided to ban refugees from some of our countries. What do we do about this? Indeed, this is one of the greatest challenges to our unity and solidarity," the AU Commission chief added.Even before the travel ban was announced last week, African capitals had watched the transition from Barack Obama's administration to Trump with some concern, fearing his focus on "America first" could push trade and other ties with the continent down the U.S. list of priorities. The new U.N. secretary-general, Antonio Guterres, also hinted at unease about the U.S. administration's actions in his address at the summit, without mentioning Trump or the United States."African nations are among the world's largest and most generous hosts of refugees. African borders remain open for those who need protection, when so many borders are being closed even in some of the most developed countries in the world," said Guterres, who took over at the U.N. helm this month.(Reporting by Ed Cropley; Writing by Edmund Blair; Editing by Andrew Heavens)
